Kelston Backs Local Career Development Outreach Programme

On Saturday, 30 October Gqeberha-based recruitment agency, Ingenious Personnel Recruitment, in partnership with the Kelston Motor Group hosted a career exhibition at the Apostolic Faith Mission church in KwaZakhele, Gqeberha. This event served as the inaugural sponsorship by Kelston Motor Group of Ingenious’ community career development outreach project aimed at combatting the scourge of youth unemployment in the Eastern Cape.

The objective of this educational expo is to equip unemployed youth from disadvantaged backgrounds with workplace readiness knowledge at no charge. It [the project] aims to upskill the youth with soft skills and provide career coaching such as how to draft a compelling CV, where to look and how to apply for credible jobs, how to prepare and succeed at a job interview, etc.

At the event, local professionals from various industries were invited as guest speakers to share job application tips and motivate the attendees by sharing their success stories. The panel of speakers included Human Resources Practitioner, Zanele Clock-Martins, Junior Legal Advisor and entrepreneur, Andiswa Madikana, and the Strategy Director of ACCSA and founder of Kore Business Solutions, Anela Mahamba.

More unemployed 18 – 35-year-olds will benefit from this upliftment programme from 2022 as the Kelston Motor Group and Ingenious Personnel Recruitment agency partner together to expand this initiative to other areas in the province where the Kelston Motor Group has a presence.

Peter McNaughton, the Director of the Kelston Motor Group, said that he jumped at the chance to back this initiative when Nicky Qenge, the Director of Ingenious Personnel Recruitment approached him with a sponsorship proposal. He wanted to partner with Nicky in her quest to uplift disadvantaged job seekers as it aligns with the Group’s passion for supporting local communities and playing a role in the development of the economy of the region. “The Kelston Motor Group is heavily invested in the Eastern Cape, so when the opportunity to be involved with this project arose, we couldn’t let it pass us by,” he said.

“Our mantra “The Eastern Cape is Kelston Country” is not one we say superficially, we live by it, and we will continue to do so by rolling this initiative out across the province in the coming year,” he added.
